Dear Harvey Weinstien,

After viewing the movie, Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil produced by Kanbar Entertainment, I have come up with an evaluation regarding whether or not it should be released nation-wide. Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil is a compelling and detailed story involving many fairytales, some including Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and even Jack and the Beanstalk. A brief summary; all the original characters from the first movie Hoodwinked are on another mission involving Hansel, Gretel, and the evil witch. After giving it much thought, I have decided that this movie should be released nation-wide.

With all fairy tales, there are some characteristics that occur throughout all, there are traditional fairy tale characteristics. Examples of these characteristics are happily ever after endings, magic and enchantments, evil characters, etc. What makes this movie work is that it has an exceeding amount of these traditional characteristics. To support my reasonings, Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil does in fact have evil characters, magic and enchantments, and a happily ever after ending. For instance, the evil character characteristic would be the main antagonists Hansel and Gretel. Also talking animals, as in the characters Wolf and Twitchy, would be perfect examples of the category of magic and enchantments characteristic. Lastly, the happily ever after ending would be how Hansel and Gretel are then arrested at the end and the main characters, or protagonists, go on to live a happy ever after. With this information, one would say a movie with this many traditional uses of fairy tale characteristics would be successful.

Another way this movie could bring success if it was released nation-wide is the fact that it includes recognizable elements from their original stories that many people hold dear to. One example of a recognizable element could be taken from Red Riding Hood, one of the fairy tales that are present in this movie. In the original Red Riding Hood, the granny is saved after she had been eaten by the wolf. In Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil, this element of the granny being saved is recognizable when Granny is saved by Red and team from Hansel and Gretel, who had kept her captive. Another recognizable element is from the original story Hansel and Gretel. In the original, Hansel and Gretel are fattened up by the sweets given to them by the Evil witch. This is recognizable when Hansel and Gretel, in this movie, become giants and grow obese, to the point of being able to move, from eating too many sweets, or in this movie the truffles. By having these recognizable elements in this movie makes it even more successful, seeing how if you have elements from those successful original stories would then, in result, make this movie successful.

Every movie becomes successful by its creativity and individual aspects. Therefore this movie would then be successful by its creative uses and fractures. An example would be the brilliant idea of making the protagonists, from the original stories, bag guys in this movie and vise versa. For example, in this movie Hansel and Gretel are no longer the good guys like the original story but are the evil antagonists. Also making the Wolf, who was originally the antagonist in the original story of Red Riding Hood, a protagonist or a hero is also another example of a creative fracture. Unlikely pairs is also another creative fracture that is evident in this movie. Unlikely pairs as in Red Riding Hood working along side the Wolf and Hansel and Gretel working with the Evil Witch. These pairs are creative because in the original stories they are seen as enemies. With this much creativity of the fractures, this movie will definitely be successful if ever released nation-wide.

With all of the movie’s creative Fractures, uses of elements from original stories and traditional characteristics, it will surely be a successful. Fairy tales are very successful in the world and using their highly praised ideas will make this movie loved by many people. Not to mention, the fresh new creativity that is obviously showed in this movie. In short, Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil should be released nation-wide.

With all hopes,
Miranda Zampogna
